Our History

  1. Welcome to Joint Oil 08/08/1988

    Company Establishment. Joint Oil was established under the international convention concluded between the Great Jamahiriya and the Republic of Tunisia on 8/8/1988, equally owned by the Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolières and the Libya Oil Holdings Ltd. The company was granted the “7th of November” Block, where seismic surveys, geological studies and exploratory operations went on to map several geological structures and identify a number of significant leads and prospects.

  2. 05/05/1997

    EPSA I. Joint Oil signed an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) related to the “7th of November” Block with the Nimir Consortium, with Nimir Petroleum as Operator. The agreement lasted six years — a five-year Exploration Period plus a one-year extension.

  3. 1999–2012

    ~10,612 km of 2D seismic and four 3D surveys (1,472 km² total) acquired on the Joint Oil Block.

  4. 27/08/2008

    EPSA II. Joint Oil signed a new EPSA related to the “7th of November” Block with Canadian Superior Energy Inc. as Operator, augmented with a Swap Agreement under which Joint Oil acquired a 3% overriding royalty in the Mariner Block owned by the Canadian company.

    Ibrahim Mohamed Hadi Baggar begins tenure as a General Assembly Member.

  6. 2016

    Joint Oil and ETAP began collaborating to attract investors/operators for the block and Zarat Discovery.

    Rachid Ben Dely begins tenure as a General Assembly Member.

    Fayed Mohamed Altwair begins tenure as a General Assembly Member.

    Dalila Chebbi Bouattour begins tenure as a General Assembly Member.

  10. 21/07/2023

    Joint Oil General Assembly authorizes proceeding with Zarat Discovery and Joint Oil Block marketing.
