The block is located in the Tunisian-Libyan offshore acreage on both sides of the delimitation of the continental shelf. It is part of the Pelagian Basin in the southern margin of the central Mediterranean Sea.

The Joint Oil Block covers an area of 3,055 square kilometers, with water depths ranging between 80 and 120 meters. It is situated 150 kilometers northwest of Tripoli, Libya, and 120 kilometers southeast of Sfax, Tunisia.
