The block is located in the Tunisian-Libyan offshore acreage on both sides of the delimitation of the continental shelf. It is a part of the Pelagian Basin in the central Mediterranean Sea’s southern margin.
The Joint Oil Block covers an area of 3,055 square kilometers, with water depths ranging between 90 and 120 meters. It is situated 150 kilometers northwest of Tripoli, Libya, and 120 kilometers to the southeast of Sfax, Tunisia.

Around 10,612 km of 2D seismic data, evenly covering the Block, and four 3D volumes totaling 1,472 km² were acquired on the Block from 1999 to 2012.
Four exploration wells and one appraisal well were drilled in the Joint Oil Block, and logs data are available.
